If your email provider includes SPAM software and/or Whitelist software you may need to enable receiving email messages from the domain: merrimackvotes.org or if you must include the user for the friends list you would need to enable your software to accept emails from friends@merrimackvotes.org, friends-bounce@merrimackvotes.org, friends-owner@merrimackvotes.org.

merrimackvotes.org uses the Mailman opensource package to maintain its email lists. 

When you ask to subscribe to an email list, you will be getting a confirmation email from friends-request@merriackvotes.org

The message is to confirm that the owner of the email account actually requested to be on the list and prevents people from subscribing other people on the list.

Once you send your confirmation email, you will receive a Welcome email message.

The email lists are closed lists. This means there are controls on who can send out to the list. In short, the majority of the members on the list are not going to be able to send emails to the entire list.

People on the list can not view other member's email addresses, so your email address is protected.
